Kay Jeweler is coming to the Brooklyn borough of New York, announcing plans to open a store in the city’s Financial District, according to a press release from the company.
Kay Jewelers is partnering with the Brooklyn Nets for the store, which will be located on the same block as the Barclays Center, the Nets announced on their website.
It is the first major New York borough to receive a major sports team as the team moves to Barclays Center from Madison Square Garden.
The store will open in the first quarter of 2020.
“The Barclays Center is a world-class arena and it’s fitting that our Brooklyn neighborhood will host one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic sports franchises, which is why we’re excited to partner with Kay Jewelry to bring Kay Jewelery’s exclusive collection of luxury, high-quality jewelry to the borough,” said Dan Cohen, CEO of Kay Jewelier, in a press statement.
“This store is a testament to our team’s dedication to the sport of basketball, which we are passionate about and we want to see expanded to Brooklyn’s other boroughs,” he added.
The company, which currently has eight stores in the United States and Canada, said the new location will be open from the beginning of next year.
It is not clear how many people will be able to buy the collection, but it will be available online and in store.
The Brooklyn Nets announced plans to move the Barclays center to Barclays Plaza in mid-November, a move that will allow them to host more games and other events.
Brooklyn is home to more than 40 teams, including the Brooklyn Dodgers, Brooklyn Nets, Brooklyn Cyclones, Brooklyn Red Bulls, Brooklyn Knicks, Brooklyn Raptors, Brooklyn Thunder and Brooklyn Wizards.
